Internal Medicine/Primary Care

Internal Medicine is a medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of adult diseases. Internists, also known as internal medicine physicians, are medical doctors who specialize in this field. They are trained to provide comprehensive care for adults, covering a broad spectrum of medical conditions and organ systems.
Internal Medicine encompasses various sub-specialties, such as:
1.    Cardiology: Focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of heart-related diseases and conditions.
2.    Gastroenterology: Concentrates on disorders of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
3.    Endocrinology: Deals with disorders of the endocrine system, which includes hormone-producing glands like the thyroid, adrenal glands, and pancreas.
4.    Nephrology: Specializes in diseases of the kidneys and urinary system.
5.    Pulmonology: Concentrates on diseases of the lungs and respiratory system.

Internists often serve as primary care physicians for adults, providing comprehensive preventive care, diagnosing various health conditions, and managing chronic illnesses. They are skilled in both medical and diagnostic procedures, and they often work closely with other medical specialists when a patient's condition requires specialized care.
