We also offer varicose vein treatments to aid in the discomfort or kill the vein completely. Our cardiologists are constantly conducting research to provide the best solutions for your heart health. We pride ourselves on our cardiac rehabilitation processes and ability to successfully eliminate varicose veins.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program that uses your specific circumstances to improve your cardio health and nutrition after experiencing angina, coronary artery bypass surgery, heart attack, heart failure, heart transplant, or open heart surgery. At Cardio Metabolic Institute of New Jersey, we host the Saint Peter’s University Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. The program generally takes about three months after surgery to complete. It includes group fitness classes, gym memberships, massage therapy, nutrition, and weight management.
Is cardiac rehabilitation covered by insurance?
Generally, a program such as rehabilitation recommended by a cardiologist is covered by insurance. The easiest way to find out is to contact your health care provider. You will also want to determine if copays or other requirements apply for you.
What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are veins that are enlarged permanently due to pressure in your legs and feet. Some choose to treat their varicose veins for cosmetic reasons while others require treatment due to discomfort. Varicose veins are known for causing a painful aching sensation in the leg(s). Varicose veins can also lead to more serious health issues tied to improper circulation.
Treatments for varicose veins
If you are experiencing leg pain, aching, cramping, heaviness or swelling in your legs, restless legs, or discoloration of skin on legs, you will need to treat your varicose veins immediately to prevent other serious conditions such as blood clots. At Cardio Metabolic Institute of New Jersey, we offer a few different treatment options for varicose veins. Minimally invasive treatments are generally covered by insurance and will manage the pain but will not necessarily solve the problem. An example of one of these treatments is compression stockings. Endovenous thermal ablation is when a small tube is inserted beneath the skin to seal the vein off, essentially killing the vein. Blood will automatically begin to circulate into other veins and the sealed vein will eventually be absorbed into the body. The final option is Venefit. Venefit is the most effective option and has been said to be the least painful procedure. This procedure uses radiofrequency to heat the vein causing the walls to collapse and seal. The body will then absorb the vein. Though similar to the endovenous thermal ablation, Venefit is significantly less painful and causes less bruising.
